Mestizo~Escuela de Baile Folklórico, is a privately owned business dedicated to the preservation and promotion of authentic traditional folk dances of Mexico.  The name Mestizo refers to most Latin Americans who are of mixed Spanish and Native American ancestry.

Our humble beginnings took place on January 2005, and since our inception, our students have participated in various venues within our state, including competitions in Bastrop, Dallas, and Corpus Christi, TX, as well as in festivals, conventions, weddings, private parties, and local tourist attractions.  We have also received numerous invitations to participate in various festivals throughout Mexico.

Our Maestros are native Mexicans with vast experience in folklórico dance. They have studied with renowned maestros from Mexico and frequently attend festivals and workshops in Mexico to assure authenticity of both dances and regional costumes. In addition, every effort is made to provide our students with geographical information on each state as well as insight into some of the important historical events that have taken place since the Spanish conquest of the Aztec empire up to the Mexican Revolution.

Mestizo ~ Escuela de Baile Folklórico is committed to the cultural enrichment of San Antonio's community and beyond.  Our main goal is to create awareness of our great Mexican Heritage and to instill a sense of pride and appreciation of our cultural identity.
